doi: 10.1310/sci2002-147 cycling. Exercise-mediated alterations in BDNF seem to be intensity-dependent, as no change in BDNF was shown during mild exercise versus more intense workloads. In addition, prolactin has been identified as a possible mediator of neuroplasticity in the spinal cord as it serves as a marker of serotonergic activation during exercise. In a previous study, prolactin was increased (P < .05) in response to time trial arm ergometry in SCI athletes, yet mild exercise did not induce changes in prolactin. Whether this discrepant response of prolactin to exercise occurs in other individuals with SCI remains to be determined. Exercise also tends to increase cortisol release that may impact neurogenesis via an inhibition of growth in the hippocampus and/or through regulation of BDNF. Nevertheless, it has been Change in Neuroplasticity-Related Proteins in Response to Acute Activity-Based Therapy in Persons With Spinal Cord Injury

P145: Vitamins Level Change in Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal cord injury (SCI) is damage to the spinal cord that leads to sudden loss of motor and autonomic function and sensory under the level of the injury. Studies showed that individuals with SCI has a clear tendency to vitamins level change. The aim of this study was to review the vitamins level in spinal cord injury. Vitamins C level decrease in the injured spinal cord patient. Vitamins C hav...

Objective- The aim of this study was to demonstrate the efficacy MSCs transplantation in combination with low level laser irradiation (low level laser irradiation) in repair of experimental acute spinal cord injury. Design- Experimental study. Animals- 28 adult male Wistar Rats. Procedures- A ballon- compression technique was used to produce an injury at the T8-T9 level of spi...
متن کاملCase Report: Combination Therapy with Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor in a Case of Spinal Cord Injury
Introduction: Various neuroregenerative procedures have been recently employed along with neurorehabilitation programs to promote neurological function after Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), and recently most of them have focused on the acute stage of spinal cord injury. In this report, we present a case of acute SCI treated with neuroprotective treatments in conjunction with conventional reha...
متن کاملCellular and Molecular Mechanisms Involved in Neuroinflammation after Acute Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury
Introduction: Spinal cord injury (SCI) following traumatic events is associated with the limited therapeutic options and sever complications, which can be partly due to inflammatory response. Therefore, this study aims to explore the role of inflammation in spinal cord injury. The findings showed that the pathological conditions of nervous system lead to activation of microglia, astrocyte, neut...
متن کاملThe effect of tele-rehabilitation on the participation of people with spinal cord injury: secondary analysis from a randomized controlled trial
Introduction: Due to participation being the main goal of rehabilitation in people with spinal cord injury, the distribution of services via telerehabilitation will be useful for most of these people who are no access to rehabilitation centers due to environmental barriers. Therefore, the aim of this research was to investigate the effect of telerehabilitation focused on transfer training and w...
